Security Team Tracking App with SOS Alerts

Every team member on one live map. One tap brings backup with exact position.

Overview

What it is

Every member of a security team appears on one live GPS map in BuddySOS, and a one-tap SOS calls backup with that person's exact position, no verbal radio call needed. It runs on iOS and Android.

Security and event-safety teams need to know where everyone is and call backup without fumbling for a radio. BuddySOS puts the whole team on one shared live map and turns a single tap into a backup call with the person's exact coordinates.

A security shift is a coverage problem. A supervisor has a fixed number of people and a site bigger than any one of them can see, and the questions that decide a response are the same three every time: who is nearest, are they free, and how long until they arrive. A radio answers none of those until someone has talked through all of them.

That round of traffic costs time in the moment it matters. Someone calls a position, someone else confirms, the supervisor works out the geography in their head, then dispatches. On a live map the geography is already on the screen, so the supervisor picks the closest available person and the rest of the team keeps working.

The radio has a second problem. It broadcasts. A voice call about an incident reaches every handset on the channel, including the one held by a guard standing close enough to be overheard. A one-tap SOS reaches the team without a sound.

Why standard apps fall short here

  • Radio calls are slow under pressure and broadcast the situation to anyone listening.
  • Without a live map, a supervisor cannot see where the nearest available officer is.
  • Lone or roaming staff can be out of contact across a large site.
  • A guard who goes quiet on the channel could be busy, out of range, or in trouble, and the radio cannot tell you which.
  • Contract and casual staff rotate in for single events, and any hardware issued to them has to be collected back.
  • Dedicated radio and tracking hardware is expensive to issue across a team.

What BuddySOS gives you

  • Every team member's live position sits on one shared map.
  • A one-tap SOS sends exact coordinates to the team, so the closest person responds first.
  • Each pin carries the person's name, their distance from you, and a direction, so a supervisor picks the closest officer without asking over the air.
  • A phone that loses signal holds its last known position on the map instead of vanishing, which tells a supervisor where to start looking.
  • Safe zones mark a gate, a perimeter, or a restricted area, and the group is notified when anyone crosses the boundary.
  • It works silently, with no verbal radio call for anyone else to overhear.
  • The team's own phones carry it, and location stays visible to the team only.

Where security teams run it

Festival and concert securityRoaming positions across a large site with no fixed post. The map shows which officer is nearest to a stage or a gate when a call comes in, and that matters most during headliner sets, when the crowd slows every route across the site.
Stadium and arena eventsConcourse, gates, and seating bowl staffed by people who cannot see each other. Position on a shared map replaces a round of radio traffic asking who is closest to section 112.
Retail and loss preventionFloor staff spread across levels and back-of-house. A silent tap brings backup to an exact spot without announcing it on a channel that customers can overhear.
Construction and site securityOvernight patrols on a long perimeter, often walked by one person. An off-site supervisor sees where that person is without driving out to check.
Corporate and campus securityOne team covering multiple buildings with long distances between them. The map answers which officer is in which building before anyone keys a radio.

Questions about BuddySOS for security teams

Can a supervisor see the whole team at once?

Yes. Every member of the group appears on one live map, so a supervisor can see positions in real time and direct the nearest available person to an incident.

What happens if an officer's phone loses signal?

Their pin holds at its last known position rather than dropping off the map. A pin that disappears reads as a missing person, so BuddySOS keeps the last fix on screen and updates it when the phone reconnects.

Does the team stay visible off shift?

Location is visible inside a group while a member is sharing. A team that only wants coverage during a shift turns sharing off when the shift ends. BuddySOS keeps no location history, so there is no record of where anyone was.

Does BuddySOS replace dedicated security hardware?

BuddySOS runs on standard iOS and Android phones and provides live location plus one-tap SOS without issuing radios or trackers. Teams with specialized requirements can use it alongside existing systems.

Free for groups. Forever.
