Live Buddy Tracking
See how BuddySOS updates your group's live map: background GPS every 30m/45s, synced to the server every 20s/25m, iOS and Android, no location history stored.
How accurate and fast is BuddySOS's real-time location tracking?
Real-time location tracking on BuddySOS updates every group member's position as they move, plotted as named pins on a shared map with distance and direction to each person. You open the app and see where your group is right now, not where they were five minutes ago.
Each pin carries that person's name, their live distance from you, and a compass direction. You get the two things you need to walk toward someone: how far, and which way. Tap a pin for walking directions or to call them.
When a phone loses signal or cannot pull a fresh GPS fix, its pin holds at the last known position instead of vanishing or jumping across the map. That behaviour earns its keep at a packed venue, where dead zones are routine and a pin that disappears reads as a missing person.
Join more than one group and a switcher at the top flips between their maps. A festival crew and a family group stay separate, and each map shows only the members of that group. Nobody in your family group sees where your festival crew is standing.
The same build runs on iOS and Android. A mixed-phone group sees one map at one update rate, whoever is carrying what, and a member's pin keeps moving while their app is closed as long as they granted location permission. Update intervals and what they cost in battery are covered on the battery saver mode page.
